Read the full story »The title of this episode of the show which was also the season’s finale was “In the Wind”. This was quite a memorable season finale that did not follow the usual partner of high octane events. Rather, some fans would have gone for a pack of tissue paper after this one.
Not many can claim that they saw what happened coming. Bennett was up to something but the very thing he was up to was kept close to his chest until the very end and when he showed his hands it was a big shock to all as Peter was arrested by his people. Bennett played his game with his cards close to his chest but it was not close enough for Neal not to figure it out.
As shocking as it was about Peter, it would be safe to say that he had it coming. He had been covering Neal for so long that it was only a matter of time before he actually took the bullet for the guy and this was what happened in this episode. It was quite sad especially when El was shown preparing for the date she had with Peter. She might now be regretting telling him the truth although he would have still found out one way or the other.
It may have been easy to say before the episode that Neal will come very close in his quest to finding out about his real father. But what this episode ended up doing was to place the poor guy in a deeper mess with respect to his identity. But it would be very strange to see Peter in prison colors especially of the writers plan to prolong this event a bit more. It does not look like this will be resolved in just one episode and it would be interesting to see how they will explore this especially how Peter will react to being incarcerated.
As for the Neal and Sara love story, the see-saw seemed to swing in line with bringing them closer together in this episode. The speech he gave was quite touching but the thing with these two is that nothing positively permanent has really happened. There are times it looks like they have found some solid ground only for that to be snatched away before the episode ends or by the next episode.
One big thing that happened was the transfer of the contents of the box to Neal’s porch. It meant James Bennett will not get away with everything. It was an unexpected and emotion laden season finale.
This week’s episode of ‘White Collar’ was another piece of excellent tracking by the partner duo of Neal and Peter.
